Job Description
The ideal candidate is well-versed in DITA and content management technologies.
The Documentation Tools Specialist has experience working in a tool-based infrastructure to support documentation development processes.
Experience with translation is preferred.
Roles & Responsibilities
The responsibilities and duties of this role include, but not limited to the following:
Provide support to develop Instructions for Use (IFU) and localized technical content that meet business objectives, while also enforcing quality, content structure, version control, change control, and publishing strategies that support multiple deliverables, languages, and formats
Support content developers and Component Content Management System (cCMS) admin by troubleshooting and resolving issues identified in authoring tools and the cCMS
Integrate content development with existing technologies and adapt processes to align with them
Work with customized DITA stylesheets and provide recommendations to support automation and processes
Provide tool training and support for content developers in the design, development, and practice of structured authoring
Perform other duties and assignments as requested to assist in the overall function and productivity of the department
Required Skills
3+ years working with documentation and publishing tools
Bachelor’s degree in information sciences or English preferred
Solid understanding of DITA semantics, taxonomy, and search technologies
Familiarity with localization tools and processes preferred
Ability to handle multiple projects and assignments concurrently while maintaining high levels of quality and effectiveness
Excellent collaborative problem solving skills
Proven experience supporting an XML authoring environment and a DITA CMS
Experience in DITA customization including implementing constraints and customizations
Extensive experience with one or more of the following technologies: Arbortext Editor, XMetal, Oxygen XML Editor and easy DITA
Excellent written and verbal communication skills across global and cultural diverse teams required
Ability to work well independently and with team required
Highly organized and ability to prioritize required
Experience with medical devices and FDA regulated environment highly preferred
